Adobe has appointed Anil Chakravarthy as its next president and chief executive officer, effective Dec. 1, 2026, succeeding Shantanu Narayen, who will transition to the role of executive chair.

Chakravarthy, currently president of Adobe’s Customer Experience Orchestration business and worldwide field operations, will also join the company’s board of directors. Narayen will work with Chakravarthy during the transition, Adobe said.

Chakravarthy joined Adobe in January 2020 to lead its Digital Experience business and later took on responsibility for worldwide field operations. He was promoted to president of Digital Experience and worldwide field operations in December 2021.

During his tenure, Chakravarthy has overseen Adobe’s customer experience business and the development of products including Adobe CX Enterprise, GenStudio and Brand Visibility. He also played a role in scaling Adobe Experience Platform and supported the company’s acquisitions and integration of Workfront and Semrush.

Before joining Adobe, Chakravarthy served as chief executive of enterprise cloud data management company Informatica for four years. He previously held executive roles at Symantec and VeriSign and worked at McKinsey & Company.

Adobe’s board said Chakravarthy was selected following a succession process overseen by a special committee. His appointment comes as Adobe continues to expand its business around artificial intelligence and customer experience software.

Narayen, who has led Adobe for years and oversaw the company's transition towards a subscription-based software model, will remain closely involved with the company as executive chair.
