DeafCareers.in has launched a ‘Pledge to Hire’ campaign during International Week of Deaf People, running from Sept. 21-27, calling on companies in India to consider hiring skilled candidates from the Deaf community.

The campaign, themed “Awareness Starts Conversations. Hiring Creates Change,” focuses on employment access as part of broader workplace inclusion. It encourages HR and business leaders to consider Deaf candidates for suitable roles within their organisations.

DeafCareers.in connects Deaf candidates with employers and provides support through skill development, interview preparation and workplace-readiness initiatives, according to the organisation.

“Awareness is important, but awareness alone does not change lives. Employment does. Our pledge is a simple invitation to companies: look beyond the barriers, look at the talent. There are skilled, committed and capable people in the Deaf community who are ready to contribute, grow and build careers. We want more companies to take that first step and give them the opportunity,” said Sahil Chopra, founder and director, DeafCareers.

The campaign coincides with International Week of Deaf People, observed by the World Federation of the Deaf from Sept. 21-27. The 2026 global theme focuses on the human rights of Deaf people.

As part of the initiative, DeafCareers is asking companies and HR professionals to take the pledge, share the campaign within their networks and explore employment opportunities for Deaf talent.

“We don't want this to be just another awareness week. We want it to become a starting point for conversations between HR teams and Deaf talent. One company hiring one person can create one career. And many companies taking that step can create a much bigger change,” Chopra said.
