YouTube has added Amazon to its YouTube Shopping Affiliate Program in the US, allowing eligible creators to tag Amazon products in videos, Shorts and live streams.
The integration lets viewers discover and purchase products featured by creators directly through YouTube, without relying on links in video descriptions. According to YouTube’s internal data from July 14-29, videos using product tags recorded more than 110% higher product clicks than videos using description links alone.
To participate, creators must be enrolled in the YouTube Partner Program and YouTube Shopping affiliate program in the US. They must also have an active Amazon Influencer or Amazon Associates account in good standing and link it to their YouTube channel.
YouTube is also introducing auto-tagging, which can identify eligible Amazon products in recent uploads. Creators will be able to track overall daily earnings through YouTube Studio, while Amazon commissions will be finalised monthly and paid through AdSense.
The Amazon integration is currently available only to eligible US creators, although tagged products may be visible to viewers globally. YouTube has also reminded creators to disclose affiliate and sponsored links in line with applicable advertising regulations.
