Google has introduced a new set of updates for Google TV, adding artificial intelligence-powered image and video creation tools, expanded photo features and a personalized short-video feed.

The update includes support for image generation through Nano Banana, a tool that allows users to create or edit images on compatible televisions using text prompts. Google is also introducing Veo, an AI-powered feature that can generate short videos or animate existing images directly on television screens.

The new creative tools will roll out first on Gemini-enabled TCL Google TVs in the United States.

Google is also expanding Google Photos integration on Google TV. Users will be able to search their photo libraries using voice commands to find specific trips, events or images and display them on television screens.

Additional updates include a Remix feature, which applies artistic styles such as watercolor and oil painting effects to photos, and Dynamic Slideshow support, which turns Google Photos albums into screensavers.

Dynamic Slideshow will be available globally on eligible Google TV devices. Photo search and Remix will initially launch only on Gemini-enabled devices in the United States.

Later this summer, Google also plans to add a “Short videos for you” section to the Google TV home screen in the United States. The feature will offer a personalized feed of short-form videos, beginning with YouTube Shorts content.
